Taking inspiration from the ultimate girls-night-in-film, Clueless, and adding a bit of colour and texture with the check trend.
Clueless; is definitely fitting to how I’m feeling overall at the moment. I’m a twenty-two-year-old fashion graduate with absolutely no clue what I want to do. I know where I want to be, but with no idea how to get there. Being in your twenties comes with so much pressure, I don’t know if anyone else feels the same but I feel I should be living the city life, good job, moving out and partying all the time with all my other successful friends… I’m slowly learning that life doesn’t happen like they do in the movies and things don’t just fall into place, you have to work for it and it’s ok if it doesn’t work out as you hoped. You just have to remember your initial goal and know that you will get there, but you have to be patient!
The check trend has been dominating autumn so far, but it doesn’t just have to be smart. Reserved for blazers and coats is no longer rule of thumb, check has spread to skirts, tops, two-pieces and trousers. I found this little gem in New Look for under £20, and it just adds a different texture and an element of playfulness to the outfit. With accents of red and orange, this skirt fits the autumnal uniform spec.
Leave the skirt to do all the talking by keeping the rest of the outfit neutral to highlight the colours in the skirt. A rollneck jumper is best worn with an aviator jacket to avoid needing a scarf- You don’t want to over accessorise in autumn. Leave your scarf for winter. Throw your hair up in a messy bun and pop some sunnies on for an uber cool city look. If you’re feeling brave, leave the tights at home and go bare leg before it gets too cold!
