Ahhh Friday- The best day of the week, made even better by the introduction of casual Friday’s. The only day of the week you can throw those shirts, pencil skirts and boring black dresses to the side and get more creative (and comfy) at work…ready for the weekend!
Although, on paper casual Friday’s are great, they’re also a complete minefield! Just when you think you’ve got your work wardrobe figured out, around comes Friday and you’re left staring blankly at your ‘weekend clothes’ every Friday morning. You almost need a dedicated section in your wardrobe full of smart casual wear. As if, I need another excuse to go shopping…although I do have a solution for you, this outfit is almost like a hybrid of smart and casual wear- perfect for those tricky Fridays.
Casual Friday’s aren’t actually too different to non-school uniform days. I remember taking so much time to plan and prepare my outfit ready for the next day! Picking out my coolest Primark boots and what I considered my trendiest jumper (a plain blue Zara v-neck jumper- a very offensive blue!) and jeans. I’m not really sure why it’s a big deal I guess I wanted to impress!
It really isn’t that different now-You want to impress, that’s a given, but now you have your career in the mix. Like, if jeans are acceptable then what wash? what fit? what colour?
One rule I made for myself is to always keep either your top or bottom half smart. It’s all about balance. Remember, it’s not quite the weekend yet! Here I’ve opted for a smarter trouser and paired it with a fun slogan jumper and trainers, it’s comfy and shows a fun side to your personality!
The jumper is New Look and I think it makes for a great dupe to the blogger fave, Bella Freud’s 1970 jumper. It’s a lovely fit, not a frill, puffy sleeve or tassel in sight making it perfect for work and getting stuck in without catching your sleeves on door handles or your tassels in your all-important-coffee.
Just remember, It’s imperative to remember that you’re still at work and emergency meetings can still happen (not the best time to be wearing too skinny a jean and your favourite worn out grey hoody!)
