The festive season is in full swing, and no doubt Christmas parties have been attended and you’ve joined the many people rushing around trying to finish their errands before the big day (IN ONLY 5 DAYS TIME!!). I love this time of year, the fridge is stuffed to the brim of all my favourite foods and there’s Christmas music blasting from every form of speaker…so, I feel you’ve deserved to get extra cosey with a hot chocolate by the fire.
To make one, you’ll need…(Having a friend over? Just double up!)
1/2 tsp of orange zest
1/4 small red chilli (with the seeds taken out)/ chilli flakes
A dash of cinnamon
200-250ml of milk or switch out for almond milk
25-35g of broken up dark chocolate
1/2 tsp sugar
Method…as easy as 1 2 3
Simmer the zest, chilli and cinnamon in the milk for 15-20 mins. Stir gently as you go.
Sieve the mixture, making sure all the little bits are removed from the milk.
Whilst still on a low heat, add the chocolate.
Stir until chocolatey. If you’re feeling a little naughty, add a good slug of Baileys.
Take in the heavenly aroma and serve.
Top with a mountain of mini marshmallows and grate a little orange zest to garnish.
It’s Christmas…So, stop trying to be good and cosey up by the Christmas tree, pop The Holiday on the TV and enjoy this delicious Hot Chocolate Orange! They are so easy to make there’s really no excuse.

Enjoy somewhere cosey! I’ll be drinking mine on Christmas Eve by the Christmas tree with a mince pie (maybe two).
